Introduction
Astan, literally means the front section of a room connected to the door, doorway, realm, anteroom, shrine, and threshold. In holy places and also the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (A.S.), Astan, Astaneh, or Utba is called for the first and the closest entrance toward the Holy Shrine.
